| Just Do It... |
Here’s a great (and simple) way for you to be involved in WBCL’s “Drive Thru Difference” Random Act of Kindness (RAK) outreach.
Download the appropriate flyer for your listening area and keep copies in your car. When you “feel the nudge,” simply tell the cashier at the drive-through window that you want to pay for the car behind you, and then ask them to pass on the flyer.
The sky’s the limit on the potential for the ripple effect of this effort. We hope to hear stories from you and your recipients submitted below. Use your imagination and practice RAK as the “hands and feet” of Jesus. Whether at the drive-thru or at an inside counter, we hope you’ll take advantage of this fun opportunity to touch someone’s life and make a difference! |

Douglas, January 6
I was at a local drive thru today. I ordered my food and was about to pull forward when I looked in my rear view mirror and in the car behind me I saw a young man and his 2 children. I had printed out a piece of paper from the WBCL web site sometime ago but never used it. That paper made my day today. It is called "The Drive Thru Difference" When I got to the window I told the cashier (a young lady about 20 or so)that I wanted to pay for the car behind me and I got the strangest look. She said "are you serious?" I said yes. She told me the total, which was just over $10.00, I paid and had to pull ahead and wait on my order. The next thing I knew, the young man behind me was tapping on my window. He told me over and over thank you, he said that he was recently divorced and laid off from his full time job and was treating his children to a "day out". They were getting some dollar menue food and going to the park. The cashier brought my order to me and the young man turned to me with tears in his eyes and thanked me again for making he and his kids day and restoring his faith in humanity, I thought the cashier was going to break down and cry right there in the parking lot. They both thanked me again and I headed off to work. My day was now a great day.
Make someone's day..do something for someone...it doesn't have to cost anything. just smile and say hi to someone on the street, in your apartment building, in your office...I'll bet it makes their day and I know you'll feel better. |

I was at the Steak N Shake and was thinking of the drive thru program, when I looked in my mirror. The lady behind me I could tell was in a real hurry and looked like she was not having a good day, so I decided to pay for her meal. As I drove away I saw her put out her card to pay and when the lady handed her the letter, she looked and it. I couldn't tell what she thought, as she drove quickly. Hopefully, this helped brighten her day. |

April 28th I was at McDonalds in Findlay Ohio and seen a lady behind and thought today is the day to brighten someones day. I paid for her order. It was great to see her expression, when the lady told her I had paid for her order her jaw dropped and she immediately stuck her head out her window and yelled THANK YOU! It was really a blessing to me to see her day a little brighter!! What a great idea "The drive thru difference"! God bless you all at WBCL! |
Pat, February 13
I felt God talking to me as I placed an order at McDonalds. I looked in my rear view mirror to see a lady ordering something and immediately felt I should pay for whatever she ordered. I did not have any sheets printed. The young girl that took my order said "I guess you can pay for her, do you know who she is?" I replied "no, but I want to pay for hers too." The lady drove up to pay and immediately waved at me & honked her horn. What a blessing she was to me also!. God Bless WBCL, we love you. |
Della, February 11 I have been doing this for years in Warsaw. It brings me great joy to share what the Lord has provided! The cashier at the N. Detroit St. McDonalds gets really excited when I pull in and ask the amount for the person behind me. She has enjoyed being part of the blessing also. |

After arguing with myself for awhile (money is tight), I purchased an extra sandwich because "something told me to." Two minutes later, there was a guy standing next to a stop sign with a "Homeless & Hungry" sign. I asked if he liked chicken as I handed him the sandwich, and he said "God bless you so very much" to me. I was in a warm car, and he didn't even have gloves, and HE is wishing ME blessings. I got goosebumps. My 5yr old in the backseat was very curious about the event, and wished to discuss it the whole way home. Without a doubt, the best way to help children understand God's love is to live it! Even little things can make a huge difference. |

This is the most amazing nicest thing I have seen in a very long time. I was in the drive-thru at Burger King today and when I got to the window to pay they said the car in front of me payed for my meal and gave me the note. The way the world is anymore you never see anyone helping anyone else much less just doing something nice. It made me think there is hope out there after all. Well anyway to my stranger I thank you and I will be returning the favor. God bless |
Jenny, December 12
Today I went though McDonalds and i did not even have a flyer but i still bought the lady's meal behind me and had them wish her a Merry Christmas. All I can say is everyone should try it. It not only makes a difference to them, but it makes a difference to yourself ,the feeling it so great that i will do it again sometime out of the blue Thank You WBCL for the difference you make to all of us, Yours Truely the Best Family. |

Thank you so much for the Drive Thru Difference. I have been meaning to do this for someone since you started. I finally remembered to print out the letter one day last week. I went to lunch a little late that day. I prayed on my way there for the right person to pull up behind me. I ordered a usual sandwich that is normally ready. Well, there was a wait. Finally a car pulled up behind me and I was able to finally do it. The young man at the window said "Hey my Mom does this too! Can I read the letter?" He read it and said "That's cool!" I drove off and I just can't put into words how God blessed my whole day! I just LOVE being able to bless someone and have only the Lord know it was me! I highly recommend doing this for someone if you can! |
Marlene, December 5
On December 5th a friend and I were having lunch at the Packard Grill in Lima While we were still eating the waitress came over ,gave us a note and said our bill was paid by a stranger. What a nice thing to do!, like the movie "Pay It Forward". It lit up our day and made me fell so glad for what I have. |

My husband and our 3 children went through McDonalds on Sunday and told the cashier we wanted to pay for the order behind us. She looked at us rather funny and smiled and said "sure!" Then we were sitting there waiting for our meal to be given to us and I looked down and in my hand was a $10 bill. (I had given the cashier the exact amount that we owed) I have no idea where it came from. I even asked the lady if she gave me change back accidentally and she said she didn't. I have no doubt that God just blessed us in a monetary way as we paid for the gentleman's $1.50 order behind us! What a testimony to our children right there that God blesses us when we reach out and bless others (but we emphasized to them that it may not always be in money :) Thanks for encouraging us do something kind for someone by paying for a meal at a fast food restaurant! We enjoy WBCL so much and may the Lord truly bless and encourage each one of you for all that you are doing
and fill your hearts and minds with His peace and love! God reminds us daily that living for Him is so worth it! |

Hi, I just wanted to tell you what just happened to me and my mom. We were in the Drive Thru at Kewpee when we pulled up to pay and they handed us this note. Then they stated that our lunch was paided for by the car in front of us. My mom and I were so surprised we couldn't speak. With a tear in my eye I read the note. Nothing Like this has ever happened to us. I had to go to my sister to log on to tell my story. If the kind person gets to read this I would like very much to say thank you. |
Sue, October 7
About 2 months ago, I was at Ellis Big Boy, by the FW airport. I was waiting for my son to be done with his flying lesson. I took some paperwork with me, and ordered a salad. I asked if I could sit in the back area where it was more quite. As I was eating, a women and a high school student sat ahead of me. I couldn't tell if this women was the boys aunt, mother , or just a good adult friend. I couldn't help but listen to their conversation. The boy was talking the most. From the sounds of it, he had a hard life, but he was not going to let his dad beat him anymore, and he was going to finish school, and be someone. It was hard to keep from crying, and yet, my thoughts were saying,"Good for you, take control of your life". I did not have any flyers with me, but I asked the waitress when she brings me my check, could she please add on the people ahead of me. I told my waitress that I would like to pay for their meal, but please don't tell them until I am gone. When I left, I had the most wonderful feeling. I sure would like to feel like that everyday, and every minute. Thank you for spreading this wonderful program. Who ever thought of this idea is SO GREAT. |

My husband, my 2 year old daughter and I were at McDonald's in Van Wert ordering food. We went up to pay for our food and the woman at the drive-thru window told us it was taken care of. The lady ahead of us purchased her food and ours as well. I was in complete shock. I work in customer service everyday and I've never heard one person with a kind heart like that. The way things are going with economy people have forgot to give and not always receive. I give a lot to others and for once i had received something. I never ask to recieve a thing. But.. It's always nice to know that some people care for others and not just look out for themselves. So, the kind lady that purchased our meal on October 3rd, 2008 at Vanwert McDonald's, Thank you very much. I was brought up to say thank you for nice gesters people do for you and thank them for their kindness. At that time i could not so... THANK YOU once again. |
Marilyn, September 26
I was a MacDonalds at about 1:30pm. I was counting the change to get my food order of $5.27. I had three dollars and was counting change. The lady at the window said "you might think this is strange, but the lady in the gray car paid for your meal and left you this note". Whoever you are, bless you, I really want to thank you. I'm going use the same letter and bless someone else. Thank you again. |
Mary and Dawn, September 10
My daughter, Dawn, and I went through the McDonald's in St. Marys, OH; Wednesday morning Sept 10 and when we pulled up to the window to pay we were told the lady in a red PT Cruiser in front of us had paid our bill and were given a paper signed "The stranger in front of you or somewhere close by". We were so shocked we kept asking eachother who she was but neither of us had any idea. We would really like to thank this stranger in front of us for her kindness, it did make our day. |

I finally decided to try the drive thru difference. As I did this the drive thru people were very nice and acted like they knew what I was doing. As they handed me my change back from paying for the person's order behind me they told me for some reason they had doubled the amount of chicken that they put in my orignal order and the girl that did this said, see you were nice and somehow we gave you something extra without even knowing it. I assumed they had heard of this because like I said they seemed to go along with the whole idea very well. I was nervous about doing this (isn't that funny... nervous about giving.) I hope it brought something good to the gentleman in the truck behind me. It made my day and I will do it again. I hope others try this especially now when there is a need out there. |

Tell us your Drive Thru Difference story (briefly please). I had this happen to me about three weeks ago. I had just heard one of you talk about this that morning. I was given a business card size card with the name of a local church on it. I thought that was a neat way to promote the church also.
I was a little upset with this person because they were slow in moving up. The driver was obviously messing with something on the seat or billfold or somewhere. I was not in a hurry but it was still irritating me. I remember saying, "Lord why is he not paying attention to the line and move up?" Well, dah, God got me!!! I asked forgiveness and smiled and waved to the gentleman as he left. It really was a blessing at the time because I am struggling with finances right now. It was a message from God that He is in charge (even thought I fight him on it) of the money. I will be ok.
Have not passed it on yet, but will probably do so this week |
Gaynelle, August 5
Was going through Mc Donald's this AM and got a breakkfast sandwich and iced tea.
The lady in front paid for my breakfast and left the note explaining what she had done.
I will now print several from your website and pass the blessing on, thanks. |

I was exiting a parking garage a few weeks ago and the person in front of me paid for my parking. Wow, what a blessing. |

I have a third person view story for you. I serve at Outback at Coventry. A couple of weeks ago, I had a woman eating alone in my section. One of the other servers told me that one of her customers wanted to buy my customer's meal. He said he didn't know who she was, he just wanted to brighten her day, and he didn't want her told until after he left. After he left, I was able to surprise my customer with this blessing. She couldn't understand why someone would do that without even knowing her. I told her about your "Drive Thru Difference" program and I thought it might be something like that. She said that he must have known she needed a little blessing today. I said, "Yes, but more importantly, God knew!" This kind act from that gentleman made even more of an impact on the other server. She isn't a Christian and she was shocked that someone would do this. So if I could say something to this gentleman, I would let him know that he not only blessed my customer's day, also his server's, and my day as well. Thank you! |

I work second shift – so on my way to work last Sunday I decided to try the “Drive thru Difference.” Prayed all the way that someone who could use the help would come behind me. It was a lady in an older car – heard her order Happy Meal – so must have had a child. Lady who took my money at McDonalds said she’d seen these papers. I felt so good as I went on to work.
Also – I exercise with a group of ladies several days a week in Hamilton. On Mondays after exercise we go to Baby Boomers (just a short walk up the street) and have toast and coffee and just visit for an hour. For several summers we have met a couple who tandem bike to Hamilton from Coldwater, MI. They stop at Boomers for a rest and breakfast. So we “exercise ladies” decided to do the “Dine in Difference” – we paid for their breakfast. We left before they got the bill – rather found out they didn’t owe one. One lady had to wait out front for her husband so was there when the bike couple came out. They thanked the “exercise ladies” for doing that.
It’s fun to try and figure different ways to help people in secret. I keep papers in my van – put some up at work and at church and passed a few out for others to try. |

I want to thank the guy in the white Monte Carlo that bought my lunch at the Burger King on Lima Rd yesterday. It was totally unexpected. He single handedly restored my faith in humanity. This man works at Pizza Hut. I saw it on his shirt. If anyone knows a guy that works at Pizza Hut and drives a late model, white Monte Carlo, you need to shake his hand and tell him he's a good guy. Thanks again. |

I was on my way to work today and i wasn't feeling well, i had been sick for a week w/ a sore throat! i had never been to the Star Bucks in downtown fort wayne (just moved here from defiance,Ohio) and i decided to stop and grab some coffee. When i got up to the drive thru window to pay, the Star Bucks employee informed me that the girl infront of me paid for my order and then handed me a note. i pulled out of the drive thru and parked my car and read the note. i got chills when i read it and started tearing up! It completly turned my day around! THANK YOU so much if your reading this. i will continue to pass it on. |

I was at the East side Kewpee in Lima waiting in line when I pulled up to the window to pay and the employee handed me my order and said, "Here is your order and this (as she handed me the flyer) and the gentleman in front of you paid for your order." I was shocked! I read the flyer and a huge smile came over my face. I was deeply touched and will be passing on the act of kindness. Thank you to the gentleman in front of me who paid for my order and taught me to "pass it on! |

Dec. 7 of last year my mother-in-law was diagnosed with a brain tumor on a Friday evening. It was a very difficult and confussing time for every one. The following Monday my daughter returned to school and broke down half way through her day. After picking her up and talking with her. I still needed to grab a few things in town and her little sister was getting hungry. So, I decided I better make a quick trip through the Angola McDonald's. When I pulled up to pay, the young man explained the lady in front of me had just paid for my bill and to tell me Merry Christmas. It cost her less than $5.00, but to me it meant the world.
I truly felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. God can use you where ever you are. |
Linda, June 4th
I do this often but one day last year I had a man follow me to my destination because he had to know why I had paid for him when he didn't even know who I was. It truly made his day, and mine. |
Pamela, June 4th
I didn't know you were doing this...a couple of weeks ago, I was in the DT at McDonald's in Angola and saw that a former co-worker was in line behind me; I paid for mine and asked about hers and had the cash so I bought her breakfast too! I was still in line when I heard her hollar, "THANKS PAM"! I waved and hollared back, "You're welcome, Susan!" I was all warm and tingly the rest of the day! God is good! I love WBCL! |

I stopped at Cabin Fever In Defiance to just get a coffee had no money on me -you can imagine my surprise when the lady told me to order what I wanted the car in front had paid for my order God bless that person. |

WOW What a neat idea! This happened to us at the McDonals drive through in Hillsdale Michigan right before Easter. My husband was very hungry and we had not stopped at the ATM yet and we had $6 on us. I told him I had a coupon for a buy one get one free sandwich so we got that and a drink. We went to pay and the young person at the window told us the lady in the car ahead of us had paid for our order and to tell us Happy Easter. We were shocked to say the least! Hubby hopped out of the car and told her thank you and she said she just wanted to do that and hoped that sometime we could pass it along. It made our day and I think the young man at the window is probably still talking about it . God bless! |
Cheryl, May 28th
Today I was going thru a drive thru restaurant and I heard that "still small voice" say, "pay for the vehicle behind you". I argued with the voice and came up with every excuse that I could think of (not enough money, didn't know the people, etc.). When I couldn't stand it any longer, I knocked on the window and asked the clerk how much the order was behind me. It was not very much money and I paid for their order. (At that point, I was embarassed for even arguing about it!) It was amazing how that very small act brought so much joy to me. The people behind me kept waving and saying, "thank you, thank you!" Moral of the story, "when you hear the still small voice - do what He asks and you will be blessed." |

Good Afternoon, my co-worker was at Starbucks today and in front of her was a WBCL van. The person in the van purchased her drink which was a surprise to her when she went to pay. She was having a really bad day so it brighten her day. I just wanted to say thanks for doing kind things for others and for the wonderful music you provide me and my family. I also had my best friend win baseball tickets this morning on the morning show. You are all making a difference every day in big and small ways. Thanks so much. God Blessings |
